Vacuum question

Forgive me as I'm new to the reef scene. I kinda came into a well established 55 reef setup. My question is : Is it possible to use a cainster filter as a gravel vac? Ebay has many canisters that are relatively inexpensive. I guess I'm wondering if they create enough vacumm to draw the waste out of the substrate.

As long as it is not too puny. I usually vacuum mine with siphon... much less pressure than any canister I have seen.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Why not get a gravel vaccum from your lfs(local fish store) and clean the sand when doing water changes. This will allow you to pull the water from the tank to change and clean the sand. Its simple ime(in my experince.

ALSO WELCOME TO TRT!!!
