81* is fine but a 77 at night to 81 during the day temp swing is not good!
No more than 2* swing is ideal!

Bigger bubbles chambers, more contact time w/ bubbles, better bubble production, better pumps, more water processed, etc.....

Most people hold there temp at 78-80 Mine stays right at 78.4-80 max.
Depending on the light your using you may be able to just run your ac to keep the house stable. I set my home AC to 74 and don't need a chiller with the T-5 setup. If your running MH 400's on there, well, your gunna need a chiller depending on where you live.

You can try a few things......set the heater to kepp the tank at say 78-79 and see if the tank only rises to ~ 81 still . If so than that should work. Or if it rises then you may want to try some fans. However, if you don't have an atuo top of you may be batting water additions.
Or....you can try running MH's from 12-6 only as well. as the 6 hours should be plenty!

with that sized tank you may be able to get away with fans on the sump and the tank waters surface. it will be close though. i am betting you will need a chiller before to much longer.
if it were not for the tanning bed in the back room, i would say keep that room as cold as possible. that would really help. i have a feeling the user of the tanning bed would not appreciate this though.
