SW Reef Toolbox

What do you all think you would list as the 6-10 most important items you can have in your sw reef toolbox?

Just curious... I'd like to start a toolbox but, want some suggestions please.

You talking tool tools,,,or reefing tools,,,like hydrometers,,etc?
Think you are going the hand tool route with this one,,,
Hmmm,
Pliers,,the standard slip joint kind, and /or the channelock type,,,
Screwdrivers, slotted and phillips,,,based on what stuff you have to work on,will decide on what sizes you'll need.
Plastic tie wraps-teflon tape etc,,,not tools , but stuff you prob will need to have at the ready.
Single -edge razor blades, used for more than glass scraping.
Silicone grease-lube,,for those o-rings etc.
A small adjustable wrench-( I am lucky enuf to have a decent set of sockets/ratchets,in my basement tool box, saves me the trouble of going to the garage , if/when i need stuff like this)
Super/Crazy glue- for non fragging jobs,,along with a tube of reef safe silicone sealer,,
Plastic electrical tape,,,

Can't think of anything else really,,of a "gotta have" for the wet boxes i keep, that i would feel the need to keep near the tanks, just for use on /around them.

I had loads of hand tools around here, being a dealership auto mechanic, long .long time ago,and a current antique car guy,and all around fix it dude here on the "farm", so i have plenty of tools if/when needed. I tend to try to keep the tools i use around the tanks,as the lesser quality tools,,no need or desire to have my Snap -On tools rusting up being around my tanks..I tend to end up having tank tools as the "less" nicer tools from my vast collection on knuckle busting devices,,,
Not sure if this helped in making up a list of gotta have tools for tank stuff use,,,maybe someone else will add a needed addition to a reefing tool box,or i might come up with a for sure tool to add to my post here,,

One more thing,,,never use WD-40, oil etc, on the tools , to keep them nice and rust free,,,that stuff always will have a habit of somehow getting into your tank,,let the tank tools rust gracefully,,kinda adds a patina of salt water service look to them,,, The same thing for letting them rust up real good n flakey,,the rust is prob not good for a tank IMO,,just wipe em off b4 and after you use them,,to keep the extra crud on the tools ,from making it into the tank.
Hope this helped somewhat,,hopefully we will get a bigger "gotta have" list here so you soon,,,

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Junkzoo... this is what I was looking for.

I have stuff all over my house and just wanted to have a container/toolbox with the main items in it, like you mentioned.

I am trying to get organized. giggle Since I don't have a big stand like most bigger tanks on are on, I will start another container of just medications/additives and another one just for food items.

Ok, this is what I have came up with...

(three-drawer, rubbermaid type, storage unit)

1st drawer:
  1. small tweezer
  2. long tweezer
  3. turkey baster
  4. measuring spoons
  5. large plastic cup
  6. medium cup with screw-on cover
  7. knife
  8. toothbrush
  9. eye dropper
  10. veggie clip
  11. icecream spoon
  12. flash light
  13. 5-in-one test kit
  14. log book & pen
2nd drawer:
  1. flake foods
  2. pellet foods
  3. veggie foods
  4. chemicals/additives (iodine, purple-up, nano a & b, etc.)
  5. joes juice
  6. tumbler glass
  7. medicine syringe
3rd drawer:
  1. fish net
  2. bottle brushes
  3. filters
  4. filter bags
  5. filter media
  6. long scraper
  7. plastic putty scrapers (set of 3)
  8. disposable gloves
  9. rubberbands
  10. superglue
  11. underwater epoxy
  12. utility blades
  13. funnels
  14. plastic, resealable, bags
  15. frag discs
  16. extra heater
  17. cleaning siphon
I guess that it's not a toolbox. But, I think that it will work great.

Any other suggestions?

you can save room by getting rid of the iodine and the purple-up. just stick with the A & B part Ca and alk suppliments.

get a flashlight with a red lens cover.

what filter media do you need? carbon and some emergency filter floss is all i have.
