Sump size

For my 50g 36 x 18 x 18 the area in the stand is 30" wide I had wanted to put a 20 long as the sump 30 x 12 x 12 but I think that will be too tight will a 15g be large enough to use as a sump dimensions are 24 x 12 x 12
I will be using a mag 5 in the sump for the return pump

if you are only going to be using as a sump than a 15 would be fine. what kind of skimmer are you going to put in there? what will the return pump be?

A lot of people say that Coralife Super Skimmers are not the best out there. I was considering in getting one but after reading the reviews I decided to get an Octopus which are suppose to be way better and for about the same price of the Coralife, just my 2 cents.

that should be fine. you will be adjusting the flow inside the frag tank anyway, so having a Mag 5 as a return is fine.

24" should be just enough room for the skimmer, baffles, and return pump. it is better to put the baffles closer to the return pump than to the skimmer.
