sump ideas

heres a ruff drawin of what my sump will hopefully look like. i am using an octy recirc 150 and workin on buildin a dual media reactor and calc reactor sometime soon.

i have a little giant return pump so i need to drill the tank or do an over the side suction. when the water enters the sump i want it to run over some LR ruble that im goina place in a removable box that sits a few inches of the bottom of the tank so detris collects underneath it and it can be removed easily for cleaning

what do u guys think of the setup?

Hi, I am also working on a DIY skimmer, similar ideas to yours. I also have a Little giant return pump. I dont see in your diagram where your skimmer pump would be. Would it be in the sump. What pump would you use for your skimmer. I currently use the mag 7 in sump but would like one that gives off less heat. Any ideas? I have a 125. I may steal some of your ideas.

It can be rebuilt.

looks like a nice and simple sump design. i do not see any problems with it.

what size is the Little Giant pump? what size are your overflows? what is the feed pump for the skimmer? remember you want all of these to be the same flow. if anything if it is possible have the feed pump for the skimmer more than what the overflow can handle.

G~
