Skimmer/Powerhead Suggestions?

I currently have a 35 (or 55) gallon reef tank. This is a Hexagonal tank, I'm unsure of the actual gallons really. I'm looking for a powerhead that won't be overkill but that rotates. I'm mainly looking for a decent rotating head as normally the straight shot doesn't give enough full water movement throughout the whole tank. I think that the rotating head will work better for this situation. I'm also looking to get a decent hang-on skimmer. As I do not have any room for a sump or anything I need a decent skimmer that will hang on the back and do the deed.

I have about a nice bit of live rock, some xenias, polyps, mushrooms and a few fish. I don't have anything super elegant living in an apartment and moving around I won't be getting a 100+ gallong tank until I settle into a house.

Just looking for good suggestions on a skimmer and powerhead that will get the job done and not give out in 2 weeks.

Have you considered a Hydor Flo unit? They attach to a powerhead and rotate the water flow out of them. Another option, if you have room to hide pump, is to put a pump in the back of the tank and attach it to a SCWD unit.

Most of the pumps that rotate are not very reliable. In a hex tank you should be able to get good circulation just by letting the water flow around the tank (bouncing off the walls.) You probably need at least 2 good powerheads, maybe modded maxi-jets or koralia's and just point them straight at the next 'panel' and let them go. Also, for a good hob skimmer look at the octopus line. You can look at all of them at Premiumaquatics.com I like the b-800S w/ the Sicce pump, but if price is an issue look at the b-100SS (surface skimmer) - plenty of skimmer if your tank is a 35 gl.
