All Mag drive pumps do that, alot of people change the screws to a higher grade of stainless........

REALLY??? That doesnt sound good. I just looked at the two i have as well as another older one i havbe in a box and NONE of the screws are rusted and i havent replaced them.

???

I will add this however.....the older one i have I acquired.....so it MIGHT have had the screws replaced and the other two ive got running are only 2 months old.

The pump came from a LFS. I also have another mag pump in our other
tank and it does not have this problem. I will take the rusted one out
untill I can get in contact with them about this.

I noticed that the screws on some of my older Mag7 pumps rusted when I took them out of service but I haven't noticed any rust on the larger, newer Mag pumps that I have been using. I have taken some powerheads out of service, both Maxijet and Penguin, that have had rusted impellers. One of the impellers was rusted so bad that it broke in to pieces when I pulled it out to clean it.

From what I have found, most metals will break down and rust sooner or later. I have used stainless steel parts but they all seem to rust after a period of time. I haven't noticed an adverse impact of the rust in my tank but that is not to say that it is not doing something bad.
