What skimmer were you looking at, and how large is the tank? A recirculating skimmer provides longer contact time between the air bubbles and water, which increases efficiency of the skimmer.

That skimmer is more than enough for your tank. And if you need to in the future, you can do a recirc mod on it.

Difference between re-circ and "normal" skimmers. In a normal skimmer, the water is pumped into the skimmer, mixed with air, and then drains back out. How much water gets passed through the skimmer is controlled by the skimmer pump.
With a recirculating skimmer, instead of pulling water from the sump and pumping it into the skimmer, the pump pulls water out of the skimmer itself, puts air in it, and pumps it right back into the skimmer. Thus "re-circulating" it. To get water into the skimmer itself, you either hook it to your drain and let it gravity feed or you use a second pump to pump water into the skimmer. The rate of water flow through the skimmer is controlled seperately from the skimmer pump itself.

The recirculating skimmer increases dwell time (contact time with air) and thus tends to do a better job skimming. There is a limit to how well a recirc mod skimmer performs depending on the skimmer itself, the tank bioload, and the pump on the skimmer.
