I used it for a while a couple of years back and it really did nothing noticeable for me. Coralline will grow when it's ready and no sooner.

Joe, Joe, Joe, have we not taught you anything.

all purple up is, is a combined Ca, alk, Mg solution. you already keep track of these. when you added this to your tank you messed up the ballance and caused the Ca to fall out of suspension.

no harm should come to the critters, but it may take you a bit to get your levels back under control. you may need to do a large water change to get them back to a point where you have your levels good again.

remember that part about not adding anything to the tank that you are not able to test for, or know exactly what is in it.

as long as your Ca/alk are acceptable the coralline will grow just fine. it takes time to get going. just be patient.

G ~~~ I just read on these forums that its a good thing...your right Im very impatient....lol I measured my ca & alk and its fine I didnt add enough to screw things up....but boy was I worried...... Ill stick to the 2 part additive.....I had measured my ca prior to adding this and it was 400 so I figured it wouldn't hurt to add a little..If I measure and everything is fine today I'll probably wait and just do my regular water change Friday!

Sorry G!

keep an eye on the alk. that takes a couple of days to settle out. if all is fine than your regular water change will be plenty.

If you use a good quality reef salt, test its mag (I used sea chem it keeps me level). If its not up then yes you should add to keep around 1275 or more. Don't freak out, but you do want to keep an eye on it, if it gets around 900 or so I have heard of people having tank crashes.

if you can test for it than i would dose it if it gets low. check in a day to make sure the purple up has not upped it already for you. if you have a kalk reactor than it can cause Mg to drop out with all of the alk being added. not a problem if you know this and test for it.
