Orbit OUter HELP!!

Good Afternoon. I am despirate need of some help/advice. I have a large lighting system and the metal halide bulb keeps on flickering, it doesnt turn on, it just blinks I guess. I dont know if it is the ballast, or what it is. I have tried a brand new bulb, but that hasnt seemed to do anything, but flicker brighter. So I am asking for any advice, or any story that you have had with a similar experience. I dont have a spare halide set up so I need this one fixed asap.
Thank you So very much for reading and responding!!

if you tried a new bulb in it and it still does it, it sounds like it prolly is the ballast. what wattage is it? do you know what the warrant is on it? the corals will be fine without the light for a couple of days so you have time to come up with something.

if it is a magnetic ballast it could be the capacitor going out. any way to find out what manufacturer orbit uses?

I agree it sounds like the ballast and the outer orbits are electronic ballast. They do give a one year warranty, So if You have not had it all that long You may be able to get an replacement. If You have no warranty on it anymore or got it used , I would buy a ballast like ice cap wire it up as a remote ballast and not try to place inside of the Orbit fixture. I have an outer orbit and that is one thing I don't like about complete lighting fixtures , If You have trouble You have to get a ballast that fits it. Good luck and I hope You get it fixed
