newbie needs help

I just got a Coralife super skimmer hob for my 36 gal Bowfront and it won't stop blasting micro bubbles out of the return cup. Im 1/4 inch out of the water with the return cup the hose is 1 inch from the filter in the cup and the top of the needle wheel is 3.5" from water line(manufacturer recommends) any help would be appreciated.
