I have a 45 gallon tank with two power heads at each end for water movement, 40lbs of live sand, 35 ish lbs of live rock, and a aqua c remora protein skimmer. DO I NEED ANY OTHER FILTRATION...........YES OR NO......... i have a fluval 305 canister filter, but i keep hearing i do not need it and it is a nitrate heaven. if i take it off and only have the protein skimmer will my tank be OK

yes, your tank will be fine without the cannister. you do not need the cannister for filtration.

some people use the cannister for a quick one hour water polishing after a water change. after that one hour is up they will take it off line and clean it. some remove all filter media from it and just put carbon in it and use it as a carbon filter. this is mainly used in mix tanks where the chemical warefare between softies and SPS can kill the SPS.

is that enough of an answer?

The live rock is the best filter on the market.
