Lighting and other equiptment

Hey guys,
Im new to these parts and am about to make the first of my purchases for my first Saltwater tank. It will start out as a FOWLR setup but will eventually evolve into a full reef setup. Problem is, I'm very lost when it comes to lighting. I also need help finding the right equiptment for the job.

the basics:
Tank: 36g Bow Front All-Glass (30x16x21)
Stand: All-Glass BowFront stand (28" tall)
Undertank: 10g tank that will eventually be a sump
Skimmer: AquaC Remora w/ Drain Filter
Heater: 2x 150w Jager submersable filters
Circulation: 2x 1200 MaxiJet Power Heads
Lighting: 150w MH

LiveStock:
2x Clowns (1x Black and White F.Perc and 1x F.Perc)
1x Watchman Goby
1x Serpent Star (is it safe for a fish tank?)
1x Fighting Conch
1x Cowrie
1x Fire Shrimp
1x Banded Coral Shrimp
2x Feather Dusters1
1x Pistol Shrimp
1x BTA
*The above are more for show. I will also have the typical cleanup crew of peppermints, snails and the like.

Corals:
Torch
Xenia
Ricordia
Zoanthids and Shrooms
Frogspawn
GSP

Couple questions:
1.) I plan to drill a hole in the side and back of the aquarium but fill them with sealable bulkheads for the time being for an eventual upgrade because I'm not yet ready to take on the task of building the sump. That said, will a 10g tank even make an adequate sump and would it be possible include a Refugium in it? Or would you suggest I go with the HOB refugium setup?

2.) Lighting is still something I am struggling with. I've gotten a lot of advice about it and most suggest the 150w MH will do a good job for this eventual reef tank for a beginner. However, I still want my tank to have fluorescent light for the nice Blue light effect, all day viewing as well as moon light LED for night time viewing. Can you guys suggest a canopy (can't be suspended from the ceiling) that can house a 150w MH, 1+ Actinic Fluor. as well as atleast one moonlight LED? It needs to be 30" or less (with stand offs to fit the 30" tank). I haven't found any in my searching.

3.) Can you guys suggest a good host of FOWLR testng equiptment to get? I like the digital stuff as much as possible for ease of use as well as being more accurate. I will get the Coral stuff closer to when I'm ready to start introducing them (6mo. or so).

4.) I do want a few fish (the 3 listed above and at most 1 more that was more "freeswimming") but I want the focus of the tank to be more invert related. I really do enjoy looking at the various shrimp, crabs and the like. That said, is it possible to go overboard on inverts? The above list is my "dream setup" and I have no idea if this is significantly over the limit for a 36g tank or what. Some friendly advice on this would be very much appreciated, but I will probably make a side post on the more livestock oriented forums too.
Any friendly advice for this setup is very welcome.

1. Drill it, HOB's are a good choice if you can't drill the tank but if it's and option then by all means drill it. Must make sure the panel you drill is not tempered!!!

2. at the beginning why not ad a couple of vho's one 10k 1 ac03 and then later if you get into sps add a MH DIY kit, then use your vho for actinic supplementation.

3. hanna makes good testing probes for ph, tds etc. salifert makes the best test kits for manual testing, Definatly get a refractometer for testing salinity. otherwise with a fowlr you'll need ph, kh, no2, no3

4. with three fish already, keep the fourth a smaller one, Royal grammas are nice but you wanted a swimmer right, hmmmm yellow tail damsel, they are much less agressive than other damsels

Well what is limiting on the hood is really my inexperience. I want to stick to stock setups that don't need modifications and I figured I'd go with what I need eventually now. I can't seem to find any fixtures that can house MH and the other bulbs though. Atleast none that mount on the aquarium in some fashion.

Could you suggest a few specific models to look at? Lighting is one thing I haven't been able to do much research on because for the most part it has been pretty technical and everyone talks about mods and custom setups.

Ya I'm a diy guy myself, I've never purchased a stock hood, I've always built them, So I don't want to give advice on a brand. I wouldn't want to mislead you, but I'm sure others that have will chime in soon.
