How much sand to put in?

I got my first 55gal tank started, been running for 2 days now.

I am planning on putting live sand, so i have a question.

Is Live worth it? If i am trying to save money, does live sand worth buying?

and how many inches is good for a 55gal?

I always buy the dry sand works great, How deep of a sand bed do you want? Also are you wanting to keep anything that requires or prefers a DSB?

I will put about 1 or 1 and a half big bag. I put 2 big bags of sand in my 75 gallons tank. They look great. I dont do small sand.

But i guess 1inch is good? cuz i have herd that ether have 1 inch or 5..:s

And is it a good idea to put the live rock in first then sand or other way?

i might have something that digs sand so i dont want the rocks shifting.

Skip the live sand and go dry. If you wan't a DSB then it needs to be over 4" deep. you your going to go with a SSB, then 1-3" is ok. Understand that the SSB takes different maintenance than the DSB, so read up so you can employ the appropriate husbandry and critters.

DSB is Deep Sand Bed, And For a 1" sand bed 1lb for gallon of water, Yes put the sand in first and let it settle then put in your rock.

I like either rock or something solid touching the glass. A pile of heavy rocks with a sand base can shift. Haven't you ever heard the parable about building your house upon the sand?

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.
