HELP......need coast to coast drawing or CLEAR picture of one

The guy building my tank needs more information from me as far as EXACTLY how to configure it. All i know is that I definitely want it to drain coast to coast. The necessary 5" x 5" box (for the bulkhead leading to the sump)i want on the left side(outside) of the main tank. Im not positive as to the necessary slope and the width of the channel leading to this drain. I know i want to use up as little space as possible with this channel to allow for flexibility on where exactly i drill my cls holes(i need 6 of them, 2 pump infeed and 4 out)
I know theres some drawings or GOOD pics of this kind of setup somewhere but i have been searching high and low and cannot find any.

I know how i THINK it should probably be but before i tell him anything I want to be positive. I also think there are probably many ways to accomplish handling the 1100 or so gph i require of this drain, but im sure some are quieter than others.

Anybody knows where more information as to the coast to coast overflow is and/or where pics and/or drawings can be obtained i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks

Here is one for a 120G tank that I am currently building. It is 4x4 and has a 8x4.5x12 center box. It is a pretty simple concept really.

Thanks...im curious...why are you doing it INSIDE the tank??

Im wanting to put it outside the tank and i was thinking about slanting the draining channel towards the box to possibly cut down on noise........BUT im an idiot......

thoughts?? Not to whether im an idiot or not, thoughts as to the alant and outside the tank.

Ok I agree twist my arm, you are a idiot... lol just kidding of course. Honestly why is it inside the tank is a great question. I would never do it on my personal tank. It really blocks out a lot of the top of the tank. I would cut the teeth into the back of the tank and have a external trough like what you are imagining. I wouldn't worry about slanting the bottom toward the middle or anything like that. You simply need to put in a durso standpipe and set the water level so that it is within about 1/2" of the tank water level. It will then fill up the trough and be totally silent. In a couple months I will be building myself a 150 and it will have the teeth cut into the back of the tank with external boxes.

thanks....

One more question....why the teeth??

I use them in my sumps in a couple of places but im not sure i see a reason for them here.

As soon as that water get sto my sump im going to be sucking it out and beating it to death with my skimmer anyway....

Why the teeth? Well I like to use them to keep the fish and snails in the tank.
