Looks great! Is that your first time working with acrylic? Doesnt look like it! How big is it and how big of a tank is it going on?

that looks very nice!! i like the dado's in the side to lock the baffles into place. what is the distance between all of the baffles? hard to tell from the scale of the pic. i prefer 2" between the baffles, but this is with most higher flow sumps.

Actually was my first time working with acrylic - Never underestimate the value of a quality router - pretty much did the whole thing with that thing. 1 Inch between the baffles but its only for a 700 Gallon an hour pump and the total water flow area under the baffles is 15 square inches - the overflow pipe from the tank is only 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Ive made the underflow baffles removable to help cleaning but will have to see whether they need to be secured into place when i get it running - will post some pics when i do a leak test in a couple of weeks

do you know what the recommended water height is for the skimmer? i am not seeing a lower baffle for the skimmer water height control.

are there any height control baffles in there at all? what water height are you looking for for the sump area? you will need to find a way to keep the water height consistant so that you can have enough extra room for when the power goes out.

i'll have to do this in metric as i dont have the brain capacity to do the maths

First baffle is 29cm - Protein skimmer is raised up so that the maximum water line is maintained

Second over baffle is 26cm so there is just over an inch difference. The sump will have a max water line of 25cm when pump turned off which is about 5 gallons and not sure yet what the water line will be when its on - if the sump isnt big enough i'll just have to "extend" the sump. I can't see it being a problem but i'll let ya know how the tests go
