Chiller does work. HELP!!!!

I have a Pacific Coast 650. It will cool a ten gallon aquarium with complete normal function. But when I test it on a 30 gallon, after about 30 min of normal function, it wont cool the water any more. The compressor just turns on and off about every 5 seconds. What is happening? Is it the refridgerant or the compressor? Or could it be the cotroller? What tests could I preform on it to further determine the cause? Thanx in advance.

When the compressor is turning itself off/on, is there any ice buildup anywhere in the system? It could be low refrigerant, compressor, controller or something else. The first option would be to try to contact the manufacturer, either by phone or email and see what they say about it.

pc 650

are you using the same pump to drive it in the 30 as you were in the 10 ??
could be lack of flow causing an internal ice up. I run about 600gph through mine. it cycles on about once every hour for about 5 minutes
a bit longer when its real hot out and room ambient is >75

btw I have a pc 650 on a 180 and it keeps the tank spot on at 79 +- 1
had it 3 years and no issues yet.

To determine if it is the controller or External overload on the compressor. Take the controller offline; just plug the chiller into the wall outlet. As long as it does NOT have its own controller it will just run. If it stills cycles on/off the overload is tripping due to heat. What is causing the excessive heat at that point could only be determined by looking at it and testing.
