Built-In Systems?

Hi, I am looking at getting back into the saltwater aquarium world. It has been 15 years since I had a tank, and it was small & simple. I was looking at the Tenecor "Simplicity Plus" or SeaClear "System II" with the filter built into the back of the tank, along with room for a skimmer and heater. Anyone have any experience with these systems? The largest System II I have found is 65 gallons, Tenecor seems to have larger tanks with this option. But they are all online dealers & I am obviously unable to see them in person or in action. The quality of filtration and ease of care are obviously of great concern...

Not particularly familiar with those brands, but what size setup are you looking for? There are a number of good all-in-one setups, but usually they're in the 30 and under range. Elos makes some larger ones, but they are a bit spendy.

I am looking to go with a larger system, between 90 & 150 gallons. The tank will be in my living room, so I am trying to cut down on the noise factor. The other system I was looking at was a Tenecor "marine ready" 150g. Most likely from the online vendor FishTanksDirect:
"Marine Ready: This model features bent (seamless) front corners. Includes a clear acrylic top with access hole(s) and matching lid(s). Filtration system includes pre-filter overflow(s), wet/dry filter with bio-media, magnetic drive pump(s), and plumbing connections. This model features bent (seamless) front corners."

The Marine Ready option is $1044 on this tank. I live in a smaller town in Kentucky, there is only one store here that deals with marine aquaria, so I was looking for a vendor that can do an all inclusive package so that I am not trying to find supplemental equipment at my local store. Nashville is an hour away, so I may find myself heading there to look around.

Well I have a 150 gallon system that I've made into essentially an "all-in-one", but I took the time to build a stand, canopy, sump, etc. But that may more of a task than you're looking for. Keep us posted on what you decide!

I have seen them but have to say they all are very limited when it comes to the filtration systems, the ones i have seen are made to use bio balls and other similar media. IMO I think you are better off running a external sump. Also the cost of the tanks you are talking about are more expensive.
