Barb Fittings & Vinyl Hose

What is the easiest way to get the hose completely on to the barb fittings? I have tried hot water to no avail. I am using 1" hose and 1" fittings.

Suggestions?

i do not think i have ever had that much problems getting them on. maybe you got a metric equivalent somehow and it is not quite close enough. maybe some silicone lubricant might help.

Thanks Geoff, yeah I'm not sure why it's so hard but it is giving me a workout for sure.

BTW, I am plumbing my new Velocity PS3 as we speak. I'll let you know how it turns out.

why do you have barbed fittings with a PS3?

i think you will wonder why you have ever used another pump before. you may notice your temps go up a degree, but so worth the silence of the pump.

Try isopropyl alchohol as a lubricant..it will evaporate and you will be fine.

Heat the tubing if you have problems with a blow dryer first.

This is exactly what I was coming to post!!!! I got the plumbing done and fired it up, can't even tell it's on! And the flow is great!! I now have all this crap floating around my tank that was just lying on the bottom and rocks. Now it can be picked up by my skimmer !!!!

GOOODBYYEE Mag,

HEEELLLLLLOOO Velocity!!!!

Thanks again Geoff for your expertise!

those pumps are the greatest!!

i think they are very reasonably priced for the noise they produce. NONE!!!

Who makes the Velocity PS3? I've done a couple of searches with vendors and couldn't find it.

You were right about the heat. I bought a little 4" high velocity fan at Wally World (which BTW is quieter than the IC's I bought which are going back) and set it right by the pump. Hopefully this will keep the temp in check. I really can't afford a chiller at the moment.

Blueline Aquatics now distributes them. you might have better luck looking up Blueline Velocity T1, T2, T3 to find them now.
