Ball valve

Can someone recommend a good ball valve? One that is easy to turn or maybe a gate valve by company name. My local HD carries ball valves only (made in some foreign country) that are extremely difficult to turn and basically unusable...when I go on line there are many manufacturers but that really doesn't let me know weather they are easy to turn (open/close). Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to use them to turn off water from the sump to pump in case I ever need to change things.

Most if not all BV are going to be realativly hard to turn. They need to be a tight fit, else water will leak when closed.

The BV at HD/ Lowes are fine.

I ordered a Gate valve from ebay....(can't find ones around here) and it works great.

Gate valve will be much easier to close but will take a lot of turns.

If this is just for your sump and needs closed every once in a while get the BV...plus they are quit a bit cheaper!

Thanks mucho!! Yeah, its just if say a pump burns out and needs changing-I really don't want to have to empty out the sump (100gal) just to change the pump! Found this out the hard way of course, got the unions on the pipe lines and didn't add anything to stop the water! Sometimes I just gotta laugh at myself-thanks for the help!
