I have two of them and I wouldn't give a wooden nickel for a new one. The biggest problem I have with mine is the feeder has to sit over the water (obviously) and the evaporation from the tank clogs them about once a month. I have to take them apart, clean them, then start over. I stopped using them and feed them myself now. It lets me see my tank daily and pay attention to it more when I am standing there feeding them myself.

They seem to like me feeding them better than the auto-feeder as well. Whenever I walk to the tank, they know I am going to feed them. They were both on a FW tank but the evaporation would be an issue whether FW or SW.

I use a Eheim auto feeder, but only when I am away for more than two consecutive days. This feeder is way overkill for me as it can do double feedings and has 4 daily feeding cycles but the LFS gave ma a price I could not refuse. The best food for this unit is flakes, so far I have never had a problem but I can see moisture could cause a problem.

I just ordered an asf-1 from super-feeder.com.

It looks like it will work with my Aquacontroller, and I can even feed my fish while I am on the road.

Now all I need is a webcam.

I've got a few of those cheapie "daily double" I use them when I'm going to be gone for more than a week. I don't really like them, but they work. I've heard good things about the programable Eheim.

I've used this one with pellets with good success... just don't drop it in the water. I did that once too, but I did buy another one of them to replace it.
