weird eel behavior

So i just got this banded eel. I've had him for about a week now and there is plenty of rocks for him to be in but he really just likes to lay around the bottom of the tank not near them at all. Like he's at the beach or something. He hasen't ate any of the shrimp i tryed to give him but i'm gonna get some rosie's for him tomorrow and try that. He is pretty thin throughout his whole body. His breathing seems fine. He does move around at night and in the morning. Should i have any concerns? - joey

is there any way you can find a pic online or get a pic of the eel itself? i am trying to figure out exactly what kind of eel you have. have you tried putting in some small ghost shrimp? we used to acclimate FW ghost shrimp to SW so that our predators could feed when they felt like it. ghost shrimp are normally SW, so they can live in our tanks indefinatley. i like to keep them in my tank as a clean up crew.

What and how are you trying to feed the eel. I would help to know what kind of eel as well.

Mine prefers raw shrimp. He also will eat krill and silversides. I use a long straw (the kind that comes with those big sports bottles. I put it in the end and he comes and pulls it out. I also use tongs for the silversides but he doesn't like the tongs. Sometimes he will just grab the silversides that the lions miss.
