Train Hawkfish to eat flake

RIght now I feed my two clowns and longnose hawkfish mysis shrimp once a day. Twice a week I give the clowns flake instead of mysis to vary the diet, but the longnose hawkfish won't eat them

I saw him once snap at a flake and then he spit it out, but the clowns eat the stuff like crazy.

Is there anyway to train the hawk to eat flakes? It would make life a lot easier when I go on trips so I could just use and auto feeder

you could add flake and mysis at the same time to maybe in all the excitement he'll eat a few flakes and get a taste fer them. Incidently fish can go quite a while without eating especially if there are pods or other things to snack on.

Good to know and i'll try the trick.

I feel bad only feeding them once a day. I swear every time I walk up to the tank it seems like they are begging for food. But the one feeding they do get, is a good one.

I unfrezze the mysis shrimp in a cup and spoon out about 4-5 shrimp at a time and put it in the tank. I keep doing that until they don't eat the last spoon I put in. I would say they eat half a cube. What ever they don't eat I leave in the cup with the water and put it in the fridge until next morning.

Hopefully thats a good way to feed them

Your feeding sounds good. I said they can go awhile without eating, but they can't go long without getting hungry!
