Goto saltwaterfish.com and check with the mod broomer. He has a huge multiple thousand gallon lagoon in his basement.

they still have that!!! i think they started working on it right before i moved up here to NC back in '96. i figured they would have done something else there by now. i am guessing it is on the right when you walk in the front door?

they are fairly difficult to keep. they like to eat sponges. people have been having more and more success with them lately. not sure if it is people getting better or more of them are getting caught without cyanide.

Geoff the pond idea is great, I wish I had pictures of a friend of mine in Albuquerque, He had one outside in his green house that was very nice and did really well. not really a petting type pond but one at ground level. you got a view from the top. natural sunlite lit it.

Geoff, one of my LFS has MANY of these things. The place is really something else. It's kind of like an old greenhouse converted into a fish store. http://www.tropicorium.com

i helped a friend build one several years ago. we used pressure treated 6x6's about 6 high. then lined it with a pond liner. tacked the liner down then put one untreated 6x6 on the top. it was 12 foot long x 5 foot wide X 2 1\2 foot deep. hung halides over it and used. used a pond filter system,(tetra) several pump put throughout the tank all facing in the same clockwise motion. it had great circulation! if i remember right a couple hundred pounds live rock in four different mounds in it and reef sand on the bottom.
it looked excellent. evaporation was a son-of-a-gun!!
good luck!

You could make a flusher surge device on it, too.
