Recent pictures of my shrimp

Lysmata amboinensis "one of the skunk cleaners"

Amboinensis with eggs

Lysmata Debelius pair

Tried to get a picture of my "Sexy Anemone Shrimp" Thor Amboiensis but I just did some reef scaping and their main home "frogspawn" looks bad right now. I think I might move it, because I believe it does not like to much current

Happy shrimping!!!

Thank you, I got my first digital camera about a month ago and am in the process of learning how to use it. I made it through the basic instruction manual but the advanced manual is still sitting upon my desk wishing to be opened like the presents(misfit toys) on that one christmas movie about the elf that wants to become a dentist.

everything can carry a disease. most of the time the diseases would not affect something else besides other crustaceans, but there is always a risk of disease introduction.

treating for disease with inverts is difficult since most of the parasites and other stuff we try and quarantine out are also crustacean. you can easily kill the critter in quarantine if you treat the water with medicines. most people do not quarantine inverts.

I will say that i have seen one prevalent type of disease with shrimp that are laying eggs on a regular basis. it is called blackspot and like the name implies the shrimp developes a series of dark spots on it's body during and after the egg laying cycle. the shrimp almost always die within a week or so.

Thankx Loverotties!
The first picture kinda reminds me of Mickey Mouse. The eyes kinda look like Mickey's ears. The thorax, the body part between the eyes and the lobster like tail, kinda reminds me of the cartoon like pillars on Mickey Mouse's house in Florida.

how much flake should cleaner shrimp be fed? i only have one shrimp in my tank, no fish, nothing else. i put a small, small pinch in, in the morning.

is this enough?

and what if more shimp are put together? do they compete or are they aggressive?

I would probably feed he/she a little more that that and vary its diet a bit. Right now I have 3 anemone shrimps 2 cleaner shrimps and 2 bloodred shrimps in a 20 gal. There is a little competition in my tank and if you feed them regularly, competition should not be a problem. The size of your tank is more of a factor than most shrimps ability to cope with one another. There are some warnings about the pistol shrimp as it is likely to kill other shrimp. I have never seen this but have heard a few stories about it. I do have experience with the aggressive coral baded shrimp and this particular shrimp gets along horribly with other shrimp as well as fish.
