Jawfish and serpent star living together?!?

I know it seems kind of odd (at least to me) but my serpent star is sharing space with my jawfish. I can see the tentacles coming right out of the little hole the jawfish dug out. When I saw the tentacles and the hole covered up I figured the jawfish became a meal. But the hole was open this morning and when I fed the tank the jawfish came right out.

Is this odd to anyone else???

I had this exact thing happen to me and was worried at first, but after a week he was still alive (my jawfish) but a couple days later he was no where to be found and my serpant star looked awful big for not feeding him in a week. I think he may have killed a couple fire fish as well. I have heard once there body reaches to be about 1/2 dollar size they can essily take any kind of fish down and eat em. He's not my favorite thing in the tank

how big is the central disc of the starfish? if the central disc is pretty big then you will prolly not have a jawfish at some point. if the central disc is very small then you do not have anything to worry about. i had a 15+" bristle star for the longest time. its central disc was maybe an inch in diamter. i would only see its legs sticking out a rock. these legs would grab small bits of food and bring them into its mouth.
