feeding a dog face

I have a Dog Face puffer that will not eat anything but shrimp and krill, I have tried other types of food but it wont eat them. Is this okay, will the health of the animal be damaged by eating this all the time? I have tried silver sides, squid, scallops, fish from the store, flake food, and dried seaweed. It will only eat the shrimp and krill.

if you get vitamin enriched krill you should be fine.

does it keep spitting it out after it tries the other foods? they do tend to like crunchy things.

where in NC are you?

this is a long shot but what about a clam or oyster from the half shell? You can get little neck clams and raw oysters from the grocery store or seafood market. You could try crab claws and legs too

you might already be feeding it vitamin enriched krill. double check the packaging, it may already have vitamins added. if not just look for another brand.

you are doing the right thing by trying all kinds of different foods. maybe try some of them frozen, give it that extra crunch.

Also, try offering it only those foods. I have an Arthron Mappa, that held out for only Krill, and I believe that a more varied diet is key to long term success.

I bought clams, muscles items like that, took them out of the shell and also placed some in that tank. He held out for about 1.5 weeks then he started eating. Now he eats just about everything (besides silversides, he won't even touch them)

I also add garlic and he seems to like items with that too.
