dawrf flame angel and aneonome problems

I recently got a purple long tentacle aneonme, I asked for a small one given my 'small' 36gallon tank, and now I've noticed my flame angle picking at it, and now it looks like there is a rip in it's bottom side...

The flame angle is normally a great fish, he doesn't bother other fish (i added him last) and leaves the corals alone, I'm wondering if the size of the anenome is the problem, it's just a little larger than a quarter.. .thinking maybe I can put it in a q-tank, hopefully it will heal and reintroduce it when it's larger.. or worse case (hope not) if it dies make sure I get a larger one next time...

i had a larger anenome before that the angle seemed to leave alone..

Flame Angels are nippers... some less so than others. Perhaps the larger nem had a stronger sting, but there is some risk to having any coral or nem with a flame angel. I wish I knew what made some nip more than others, but I don not.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Well to put it bluntly...
After looking at your other thread with tank specs the Anemone will not be around much longer with or without the Flame angle. Power compacts are just not intense enough to support it.

You may want to consider taking it back to the LFS...

Hmm.. never heard that (about power compacts) guess I won't be trying any more anenomes, I'm not about to deal with the problems of MH.. I already have to limit my lighting becuase of natural light... good to know.. unfortnatly went to move the nem to the Q tank, but it was too late...

A T5HO last roughly thrice the time of a Powercompact. With equal reflection there is not much watt per watt difference in light output. If you get one with individual parabolic reflectors it is going to reflect much more due to the shape of the bulb.

Hmm i find it wierd that people say PC cant sustain an LTA... Not to fight with the "elders" here on TRT But i had an LTA that was about 4 inches across at the LFS and in my biocube (PC lighting) it opened up to be a foot across and was one of the healthiest LTA's ive ever seen, i wish i had never taken it back. It found a place to stick its foot and never moved, came out every day and fully opened, and the zoox was so healthy in it, it almost had blue, shiny tentacles. Not trying to argue but i think it can be done. I had it for about 4 months and it only looked better and better until i traded it back because i thought it was eating my fish, which was a bad choice because i loved that thing. I'm planning on getting another in my biocube once i upgrade with an oscellaris pair.
