Cucumber question

Hi all
I'm new to the forum so I hope i'm in the right place. lol
Ive seen a sea cucumber in my local store, Pentacta anceps I think? Chewing gum pink, 3in in length, thorny, filter feeder. Lovely looking. I was told by the store that it is one of the best for the marine aquarium as it is not toxic? I thought all cukes where toxic to varying degrees. I would love to have one in my tank but held off as I would not like anything in the tank which could harm the other occupants. Any info would be cool. Thanks.

Welcome to TRT!

The cuc you are describing sounds like a filter feeder I've always heard they are difficult to keep but I'm not really sure

From what I've heard, they are difficult to keep alive because they normally live in nutrient rich parts of old reefs. Also, when they tell ya, "non-toxic" at the LFS, they are more often than not refering to humans.

Welcome to TRT!!

in most cases the brighter the critter the more likely it would not be in your best interest to try and eat it.

filter feeding cucs tend to not live long in the aquarium. the cucs you are looking for look like turds.
