Blue Linckia

Anyone have one of these? How well do they do? Will a niger trigger mess with it? I have brown algae all over the back glass. Will this be enough to start? What would you supplement with?

Get some Astrea snails (my glass is totally clean from these guys)...they were the best investment I made in my tank. I got about 15 to 20 of them and they are great!

I have a Blue Linkia. I've had him for six months or so. He is doing very well in my mature system. I've never had a trigger...my tangs don't bother him. The key to keeping them is a very SLOW acclimation period. I took 12 hours to acclimate mine. They process water through their skin by osmosis. This requires the acclimation period to be VERY LONG, the water content on the external and internally must equalize very gradually. Here's a picture...

We have a Blue Linkia too. I find he spends more time cruising the rocks than he does on the glass. Quite often he'll spend an entire day hovering over an area of rock where there are sponges growing.

I can't advise regarding the triggers, but the none of the fish in our tank even look twice at him.

Thanks guys..I went to the LFS today and they had got one in, but they had only acclimated him for a short time so I decided against purchasing him..I will wait for the right one to come along.

Keep an eye on it, if it makes it for longer than two weeks or so, it may be OK to take home.

I've had mine for almost a couple years now. He hides a lot in the rocks so I only see him once in a while. As mentioned the real key is acclimation and then to maintain your salinity evenly and don't let it bounce all over the place. The bigger the tank the better for that. I don't really think he will do a lot for cleaning your algae though.
