Bird Wrasse (will he calm down?)

OK, was up in Erie, PA today and stoped into a LFS, Well I came out with a Bird Warsse (Green about 6" Long). this is not a fish i have looked into getting before, But he looked cool and i like the way he acted in the LFS tank.

The LFS Guy told me he would have no problem getting along with my tank mates. (after doing some reading now, i dont see how he came up with that).

anyway. He has only been in the tank for about a hour now and he is getting more and more aggressive. I am realy Worryed about my Hawk fish (about 2"). here is some info on the tank

180 Gal
200lbs live rock
1 Hippo Tang (about 6")
1 Yellow Tank (about 4")
1 Bicolor Angelfish (about 3")
1 Saddle Puffer (About 2")
1 Pink Spotted Watchman Goby (3")
1 Snow Flake Eel (about 13" long)

Will he calm down? or does he have to go? He is real fast. I will have a hell of a time trying to net him.

This will teach me. (dont goto a LFS on a sunday when you are out of town!)

Probably not... Sorry. but any fish that becomes a bully in a new tank is probably not going to mellow out.



Edit: In looking through a few websites this seems like normal behavior, so probably not the best fish for a 180... Maybe a 600

Years ago I had a friend that had a FOWLR with all large fish (tank was 8 feet long) he had a bird wrasse in it and it was the boss.

Thanks for the info. He has chilled out some. I did find my Hawk in the rocks. not realy looking stressed but that is not normal. but he is not going after the other fish right now. he did look like he wanted to go after my Hippo but the Hippo was not going to put up with it. ,

but time will tell.

Keep an eye on your Hippo for Ich,they get it so easy with peacefull fish.

Well it has been 2 full days now. the Bird Warsse is not longer chasing any fish but my Flame Hawk. You can tell the hawk is a little stressed at times. I think i will give it a few more days and see how it goes.
