anybody keeping clown triggerfish?

I have my first decently sized clown trigger - about 6". This is a big step for me, staying away from the truly aggro fish and wondered what others' experiences were with clowns in this size range (growth rate and demeanor). Currently he is behaving quite nicely (though he does nibble on the stonefish a bit, until he realizes (once again ) that it's not a rock.

Currently he is in a 135g with a 22" whitemouth moray and a 7" stonefish. All three fishes are absolutely beatiful and stunning imo. Well fed and healthy. So, besides experience with this particular fish, I'm also open to suggestions for another tankmate. I have been looking mostly at groupers and trying to find a good balance of size/color/compatibility. Other than groupers, another eel, or another stonefish I am kind of at a loss for what might mix. I don't want to add another triggerfish at this point - too risky for many reasons. Another thought was a puffer but I really think my tank is too small for what would have to be a large puffer.

Oh - almost forgot, how has your clown been with inverts? Some mushrooms, macroalgae, and a couple astreas have all been left alone so far. But before I try anything resembling a reef I would like to hear more experience.

cheers

Casey had a clown trigger for a bit in his reef. not sure how long it was in there, so i do not know how much info he can give you on them.

brave soul for keeping a stonefish.

there are several brightly coloured wrasses that you could put in that tank. groupers are good and easy. the prettier ones can get up there in price. finding one that will not fit in the stonefishes mouth in the beginning could be a problem.

just a pic to go with it... a beauty.

the third pic is my temporary fish room. 135g on right houses clown trig, eel, stonefish - coralife t5 lighting (only like 36w or something). left tank is a 65g undulated trigger tank. center is a soon-to-be-removed-as-soon-as-I-find-one-more-fish 25g q-tank.

in the middle is my dog... red heeler/pit mix. jealous of the time i spend on the tanks.

Lovely fish, I think over time you may need a larger / longer tank. Should be fine for the time being.

thanks for the compliment. yes, eventually he will get larger - but considering he is really the only active fish in the tank I'd say he has plenty of room for awhile. It is really nice only having to worry about one fish... I'm so lazy - if I were a fish I'd be a stonefish, lol.

I put a circle around him so you can see how much room he takes up.
