Another Compatibility Q - minor emergency

Hey All,

This is a minor emergency. I had a power surge and despite my surge protector (which I thought was a good one) the light and pump on my nanocube blew. Not a big deal as we were planning on buying a 90 gallon setup next month with tax money and just transplanting everything over to it.

My Q is this. In the meantime, or possibly permanently, I need to transfer the livestock to Papa's 125G setup.

My 30g nano has 2 maroon clowns (only about 1 inch long now) as the only fish and I am worried if they will cause any major problems with his 5 Ocellaris Clowns or Firefish? I need to make this decision tomorrow so please let me know. It's either that or break out the plastic and spend money I don't have.

Thanks

Gil

If you take two maroons and put them in a 125 with ocellaris, the oce's are going to be in for trouble. The maroons get mean and territorial. Does the 125 have a sump? Put them in the sump. If it doesn't have a sump, try to get something to divide the tank up to keep the clowns seperated.

yea as stated the best thing would be to divide a portion of the tank if this isnt possible then i would suggest getting a clear gallon tub or bigger if possible and drill holes in it and put the maroons in it. Just make sure to feed them which is and extra step. Its a quick fix until you get your 90 next month, but adding them will only lead to fighting.

I'm a little hung up on the 5 ocellaris clowns, but I'll let that pass. I'd separate them as well.

I ended up putting them in the sump and all is well. Thank you. As for the Oce's they are fine, we have had absolutely no trouble with them. He also has 5 B&W Oce's that all coeexist perfectly. He's actually had some spawning as well though no hatches as of yet.

Thanks for the help.

I would say, if they are perfectly fine now.. don't mix them up. They might grow out and get aggressive later, but if they are ok now.. I wouldn't mess with them. As far as the maroons are concern.. I wouldn't drop them in with the oce's.

Put them in the sump, if there's one available.
