well damsels tend to be nasty, aggressive little buggers but they are "reef safe" by your standard (even though they won't hesitate to wipe out your pod population, they don't eat corals) and the coral eating fish I know of tend not to be as aggressive, though triggers, some puffers and even angelfish tend to qualify as non reef safe...
My narrowlined puffer would fall into the category of non reef safe simply by virtue that there is a chance that one day he will decide he likes corals but he is only aggressive at feeding time and even then he can be intimidated by my algae blenny who goes into a feeding frenzy (on algae, not the food added) when we feed the puffer and the jawfish.
Personally, non reef safe isn't a very good category, a much better one would deal reef iffy fish since most of us seem to attempt these at one point or another in our reef systems.

Aggressive fish are aggresive, piscavorous, or feed on shrimp, crabs, snails, stuff some people keep as cleaner uppers. Usually larger fish, they produce lots of waste and may be big enough to raise hell with Live Rock arrangemnts.
Non reef safe fish, ie coral eaters are a different thing all together

Agreed Doug which is why I don't like the label on this forum
"Non Reef safe Fish A place to discuss fish that are not reef safe, sometimes referred to as "aggressive" fish."

do you have a better title for this forum? i can change it if needed. i also agree that it is somewhat missleading and difficult to define.

Geoff maybe just take out the "sometimes referred to as aggressive fish" since a fish can be "not Reef Safe" and peaceful as well

or you could even do it as a forum for aggressive fish. Personally I think the a better division than reef safe and non reef safe would be community fish and aggressive fish. There isn't really a clear cut line between reef and non reef safe but there is a division between community fish and aggressive fish (or at least more of a line).

Fish only works or is this meant to be more of a "predatory" section?
like triggers are preds and aggressive but on the other hand I think many types of scorpions are predators but not really aggressive.
make sense?

I found out the haard way, NEVER put a Red Corris Wrasse into a reef.
It flipped rocks everywhere and ate a ton of snails in a short time.

Well I am going to post this only because , I have a problem in my trigger tank. I will start with I have a Snowflake eel, Lunare wrasse, Pink tail trigger, Blue jaw trigger, and last but not least a Queen .They are in a 150 gallon and have plenty of room. The problem is when I need to do wotk on the tank and waterchanges is when it happens. The Queen hate for me to place my hand in the water, If I do it won't go after me but all the other fish are in touble till the lights go out. It get really mean. He get upset and stays like that for some time. The next day he will be ok. I do 2- 40 gallon water changes a month and dread the aftermath. he don't really hurt anyone just get the tank freaked. he is a very aggressive fish. I think My trigger tank is the of best tanks I have but just hard to maintain and keep thing in harmaony. I was trying to find the right place to post this.

Vince... You have a sump on this tank?
Like the fish acts like this when you are just in the display or if you are even working in the sump it senses you?

Just when I'm in the tank, he must feel treaten and then is trying to show who is still in charge. I just hate it when he get really bad, Won't leave anyone alone. I may have to get a tank for him when he gets older.
