i have kept many a Ecsenius blenny over the years. i have not had a problem with any of the ones from this Genus. i have also been looking at getting one. i do not think that the two-spot would be any different.

they are not 100% herbivorous. they like the meaty foods i feed the tank as much as the algae foods. they can be territorial within thier same species. between species they tend to be ok. i have a midas and a bicolour right now in the same tank. i plan on adding 3-4 more different species. i would like to get them all at once so that they can all fight it out themselves.

they can be kinda nippy to other fish that get in thier territory, but nothing more than a hey-you-nip. they are not good enough swimmers to chase anybody for very long.

can he survive off the algae in ymtank, or do I need to feed him? they're only about 1 1/2 inches long.

sorry, gobidon, did not see your reply till now. no, i do not think that any blenny in this genus would survive on algae alone in a tank. i am not saying that it would need much more supplimentation with some other kind of food, but i do think that it would need som meaty food to be healthy. flake food may be enough.
