Question

the case of the disappearing percula

I recently put a thread on here called something like "Does this sound weird to anyone else?" about the sudden deaths (only fish deaths) in my 12g NC.
Well, I wasn't totally honest. The bicolor blenny did die and so did one of the perculas, but the larger one (I'm assuming the female)... just... disappeared.
Two mornings ago when I woke up, the scavengers were chowing down on the body of the smaller clown - no wounds on him, no ick, no nothing. Just dead.
The other clown was nowhere to be found - I tore up the rock formation terrified that something fell on him over night, I even looked in the filtratrion system. There's no body, no skeleton, and the scavengers aren't all grouped together so I have no idea what to think.
It's been 3 days and no sign of him. And I know he didn't jump out since the tank (NanoCube) is totally sealed.
Has this ever happened to anyone? What was the verdict?
*insert Twilight Zone theme here*

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...
I already looked (queasily) around the tank and didn't see any traces of attempted escape, but I'm not ruling ANYTHING out at this point.

Maybe I'm just stupid (or blind) but I've looked all over the floor and nearby furniture (namely a CD rack) for the kamikazee, with no luck. This is also assuming that he was able to jump out while the tank lid was totally closed and sealed...
I don't think that the tank's scaveners could totally eat him whole in one night but maybe I'm wrong. My brain hurts from trying to figure it out!

Welcome to TRT, by the way.
