Sweet Lips Dying-Help!!!

We got a brown and white spotted fish called a Sweet Lips something or another and three days later, its dying. We were told it might be difficult to feed but it appeared to be active and eating stuff off of our live rock like a scavenger and this morning its laying in some rocks taking its last breathes. What have we done wrong? Salt and all water levels like PH and nitrates are normal.

Oh, I almost forgot. We also have a couple of fish with ich which we are treating with Prevent Ich which is supposed to be organic and non-toxic. The fish with the ich are very active and eating normally. There are no ich spots on the sweet lips either.

How long have you had the tank set up?

For the future...
If you have Ich in the tank don't add new fish....

Ich is usually brought on by stress. Like mentioned above how old is the tank? What are the water params, Reef, FO, FOWLR?

As "good" preventative, I use a anti parasitic food pellet but I still get it from time to time.

Our tank is a 55 gal tub, its only been up and running about 60 days. We were told it was a difficult eater, but we decided to take a chance because we hadn't lost any fish since our original damsels around cycling the tank. I know that doesn't excuse whatever we have done, but we are learning from our mistakes. I believe the Sweet Lips is dead as he is not visible and must be down in the rocks. We will have to fish him out, no pun intended. Our water levels are 40 Nitrate, which is up from this morning, 0 Nitrites, 8.0 PH and 180 Carbonate. Not sure what FO and FOWLR stand for? Also, what is an anti-parasitic food pellet? I haven't heard of that before. Thanks for your help.

FO = fish only
FOWLR= fish only with live rock
You do know that sweet lips get HUGE right ? In the 2 foot range ? Like mentioned above , they need at least a 150 gallon tank or larger .
Not trying to put you down (we've all been there and done it) but you really need to research the fish you get before you buy one . I don't know where you got the fish from but if it was something like Petblow or Petstupid market most of the time your dealing with kids that know next to nothing about what they sell. All their in it for is a paycheck . If you even wanna know about a fish (or anything for that matter) post it here ,theres most likely a dozen people or more on here that'll be able to answer any question you can ask or think of .
OH and by the way .....I'm sorry to hear about you fish , they are quite beautiful.

Actually, we got it from a small pet store that only does birds and fish. Its not a chain. Unfortunately, they did neglect to tell us anything about size on this guy. Oh well, we live and learn. I was just so enamoured with him that I had to have him. I had never seen one before and I just fell in love with him because he was so pretty! I will do my research next time. Luckily he wasn't too expensive... Thanks to everyone who supplied information. This is a great forum!!!
