Orange Psychedelic Mandarin
Hello TRT. My LFS is babysitting an Orange Psychedelic Mandarin for one of their customers. I have never ever seen a coloration like it in my life before. Is this a rare coloration? Or are they native to a certain area? I'm very interested in obtaining one. Does anyone have any clues? I hope I posted this in the correct section. I appreciate your time to answer my questions. ^_^

Unfortunently I cannot find a picture nor can I take one at my LFS. It looks like the standard green psychedelic (Synchiropus splendidus) but instead the main color body is swapped with its secondary color. So rather than being pure green body with orange spots... it has a pure orange body with green spots.

Thanks Geoff. ^_^ I hope I can find one just like him someday. When I saw it at my LFS... I was about to buy it... until i noticed in big bold highlight yellow letters "BABYSITTING FISH. DO NOT SELL". I almost broke down into tears. I wanted my little green mandarin to have a new buddy! If I ever see it again. I'll make sure to grab my camera and show you all the beauty of it! ^_^

interesting. my identification guide actually shows an orange one and not the normal green one. it is listed as the same species. not sure what to make of this now. time to hit the great Google in the sky and see if i can find out more.

looking around, i think they are just colour variants. it is just a matter of how thick the green strips are on the fish. if you look at the UkrainianReefJunky threads, their mandarin is significantly more orange than most.

Geoff, you are hard to find? did you see my thread about using a laminated appraoch to kriesel construction? One would cut out a template and just keep stacking them, what doya think about that? finally it was suggested to me that as your posts go up you would be able to poll, is this true?
