i am still trying to decide how hard they are to keep. i had a red one, but that one did not make it. it slowly wasted away and died on me.

the green and white one you see in the pic i have had for several months. it seems to be doing just fine. it hides during the day then in the afternoon it starts opening up. i feed the tank at odd hours just to make sure the star is open and ready.
i would like to try a couple of more. the biggest problems with these is finding the correct food size for them. only a certain particulate size will travel down their arms to the mouth. the green and white one i have seems to like the mix of foods i am feeding the tank.
there may be certain species that will do better than others. not sure i would stick one in a
sand bed tank though. they do need a fair amount of food. i do notice after a week without food (vacations) that it is a bit slow to open, so it may not be to happy.
