intro of 2 new tangs to the tank.

Well picked up the tangs today. Purple is about the same size as the powder blue (that has been in the tank for just under 2 weeks now). The sailfin is about 1" larger than either tang. Both the purple and sailfin came from the same tank. (purchased from a local reef club member who has had each of them for about 3 years in a 125gal tank)

The powder blue is currently ruling the tank. Both tangs were sent to the corner and held there by the powder blue. Whenever they tried to leave their designated spot, the powder blue would come back and put them in the corner. I let them try and work it out for about an hour and then turned off the lights on them and will see how things are going in the morning.

For now, the powder blue is definately trying to rule the tank. I did shoot a quick video of the tang introduction (about 3 min into it before I realised this may make a decent video).

Sorry to say my new sailfin tang has come down with a pretty bad case of ich. My PB and Purple (as well as the other fish in the tank) seem fine at this point though. Not sure if I should try to treat (with kick-ich or ich-attack) or just let it run its course. (hopefully the cleaner shrimp will take care of things)

It does seem odd that the sailfin would get it when the powder blue doesn't.....

Any thoughts?

Michael

ich is a funny thing, can affect some and not the others, The sailfin is more then likely stressed and weaker now because of the powder blue being a bully and by the move

Well, stopped and picked up some Ich Attack and put in the first dose tonight. (I figured if it saved the tang, it would be worth the algea breakout that apparently it will cause).

It is really to early to tell anything, but there have been no ill effects to my corals, cleaner shrimp, crabs, snails or sally lightfoot. I will keep you all updated on how it goes.

looks very promising so far. I would have given the sailfin about a 30% chance of living through the night, but it looks great today...... (The ich attack was not supposed to do anything for the spots on the tang but it did stop it from getting any worse. During the mean time, it did allow my cleaner shimp to get things in hand (I assume))

The tang looks much better (about like it did on Monday). So far, I am very happy with the product.

From my recent mishap I am a firm believer of Quarantining every fish.... 1 Naso with black ich took out all of my fish in a time frame of 2 days.... All I have left is a pain it the you know what Percula Clown.

But on a lighter note I would like to wish you good luck.
