Imperator in Softie/LPS tank?

I came across the following add on a local reef forum.

Quote:
We are moving and I'm tearing down my tank in the meantime, so that means that my Imperator needs to go.

I bought her from Super Pets in Peoria about 2.5 yrs ago as a juvenile. Now she has completely changed into her mature stage. She is about 8 inches long and doing great.

She has been fed algae sheets, new life pellets, spirulina flakes and pellets and frozen krill.

She has been around frogspawn, mushrooms, birdsnest, and acropora corals and have never bothered them.
The price is good and if the fish looks ok - I would like to try and add it to my tank. Since most of what I want to keep though is soft corals and LPS - I was wondering if I would end up regretting the purchase.

Can large angels be kept in an LPS/Softie tank or is it a guarantee that it will decimate my corals. (not that I have many right now)

I am mainly interested in color and motion in the tank. Corals I am thinking about now include xenia, star polyps, mushrooms, frogspawn, torch, hammer, fox, etc. (I don't have them now, but those are the ones I would like to add to the tank)

What are your recommendations?

It's not a guarantee that it will pester the corals, but there is risk. If it's kept well fed, and especially it's coming from a home that already has some LPS and softies, it's less likely to attack your prized pieces, but you'll have to live with the reality that at some point you may have to catch it and find it a new home.

Thank you for the quick reply.

It is not a fish I have always wanted (like the powder blue was) but is one that would look really nice and really add alot of color to the tank. (except my powder blue - all my other fish are rather rock colored at at this point....)

Sounds like it would be worth at least taking a look at it.

Ended up passing on the angel. I went with 2 more tangs instead. (my last tangs) A sailfin and purple. They will go with the powder blue I already have....

I got them from someone breaking down their tanks but they have had them for about 3 years each and both seem to be fat and healthy.

Pick them up Wed or Thurs this week. Can't wait...

Still cannot officially post links to other sites, but if you go here - you can see an overview of my tank.... (this was mainly to show the mushrooms and yellow polyps I added to my tank, but you will get the idea of the rock.) Rock work looks like a shelf, but is very open underneath. fish can swim from one side to the other without coming out of the rock if they choose to. Tank is a 180.

sorry to put you through this - but go to youtube and do a search for uhn9wHm4aXY - be sure to click the HQ button and run full screen.

Just an FYI - new purple is a little larger than my powder blue (maybe 1/2"-1" larger) sailfin is maybe another 1/2"-1" larger than the purple. Sailfin and purple were kept in the same tank (with a hippo tang, flame angel and 2 triggers) previously.

I just found out today - I will be picking up the tangs Friday. should they be ok to transport together in a 5 gal bucket (45 min trip to my house) or should they be kept separated for the trip to my house?

Thanks - very excited.

Michael
