How do you handle a Lion Fish?

Okay I love the beauty of Lion Fish but knowing that there venomous has me wondering how do you handle them?

If you net them wont they get stuck in a net?

You can't bare hand scoop them do to there hash sting. So how do you put them in your tank with out adding the LFS water to your tank?

Plus in this you tube video you see them with a glove on. What kind of glove do they have that would be safe?

Watch this video about booming lion fish... I have not seen any in St. Augustine waters.

I think only the dorsal fin is venomous, try getting him from underneath.

They make safety nets, not sure if lion fish can poke through them, but I doubt it.

Interesting videos. Creepy that they are calling the infestation irreversible! Catching 1400 in one day was only a small dent. BB won't be diving east coast waters.

What you want is the specimen cups like they use at the LFS instead of a net.... solid plastic cup basically.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Ya but they give you the water as well. One thing I never do is add water from the LFS to my tank's. I always drip acclimate my fish in a bucket and then eather net them or hand scoop them in to my tanks. Some fish with bigger gill spines can not be put in a net due to them getting there gills trap in them. I learned a big lesson with my squirrel fish and he died due to being hurt buy the net.

Okay I got a e mail back about the gloves. I sent a e mail to Drs. Foster & Smith

Here's what they e mailed me.

Dear Luis,

Thank you for your email. The Heavy Duty Aqua Gloves should be able to deflect an accidentally brush of the spines of a Lionfish, however we would not recommend using them to handle a lionfish. If you need to transport your fish, we would recommend using a large fish trap or plastic bucket, to insure that the spines on the fish are not damaged, as well as not allowing the lionfish to test the integrity of the gloves. Thank you for choosing Drs. Foster & Smith LiveAquaria for your live aquatic needs.
