It depends on a few things, how big is your tank? I think the Hippo needs a larger tank to be happy. FWIW, I HATE my yellow tang. It is still a baby and it already tries to boss my 2 clowns and goby around.

THANKS,PEYTON

IME Yellows are a bit easier to keep than the Hippo...again it depends a lot on your specific setup and size of your tank...how big a tank do you have??? That may make a difference right off the bat which is a better choice for you.

My tank is a 75g.

One thing about Tangs and Ich. If a Tang is put into a quarantine tank and cured of Ich. Then is added to an ICH FREE system, IT WILL NEVER GET ICH. So it wouldn't matter if it was a yellow or a hippo.

But, if you add a Hippo without q/t chances are you will see Ich. FWIW, in my experience Yellow Tangs are more resistant to Ich.

I just looked at your other posts and see you are asking about 29G tanks...if you are thinking about either of these fish in that small a tank, please reconsider...either one of these tangs will be stressed in such a small environment and most likely doomed to a very short life.
