Help with fish list

More than likely I won't even be thinking of buying fish for a few months, but I want to get an idea of what I'm going to keep before I start to build up my tank. If all pans out well, over the weekend I'll be getting a 60g (48"x13"x24") and if not, I'll just be modding my current ~50g bowfront FW tank.

I've been researching fish and made a bit of a wishlist of fish that (according to what I've read) are reef safe and fairly compatible with each other. Still, I'm of the mind that real people with real experience can tell me more than what I read on one website, so was hoping you guys could help me narrow down my list.

This list by no means reflects the number of fish I want, just various possibilities for picking out what I eventually want. As a complete newbie, I'm planning on starting out fairly small fish-wish until I get to know my tank and its inhabitants.

- Clown fish (haven't decided what variety, yet) and anemone (again, not sure which kind.)

- Tang (this is definitely on my 'I'm only dreaming list' as my tank would be too small. Just have a love affair with tangs - they're my snorkel buddies!)

- Green Chromis

- Clown Goby

- Watchman Goby

- Blenny (haven't decided what kind, but definitely would love one in my tank)

- Yellowtail Damsel

- Yellowhead Jawfish (though I saw a spotted one that was gorgeous)

- Mandarin Goby

I love colorful fish with great personalities, so any suggestions outside of my little list are more than welcome. I'm trying to stick to livestock that is fairly goof-proof to begin with.

Thanks for any advice or further suggestions!

Well if your new to marine tanks i would definately stay way from mandarin goby! I didnt buy one myself until i had a reef that was up and running for almost a year then I put one in and it only lasted about 3-4 months. I have heard of people who are able to keep them but only a few. As far as the other fish i would recomend all the clownfish with the exception of true percula clowns, they tend to not be as easy. You could get a regal tang they are fairily easy and if you have a 60gal it would be acceptable i had one for a for a year in my tank but remember to supplement with algae that they like to eat. Start with smaller fish as this will be less of a strain on the tank and will be easier to maintain untill you get comfortable. I would also recomend the mitas benny its an interesting and colorful little fish.

Yeah, I was a little wary of adding the mandarin goby as well, but they're just so pretty! It's a wishlist - I had to put one extravagant thing on there

Thanks for the info on the clowns. As for the tang, that's just another wish that probably won't happen. Everything I read says they need lots of swimming space and having swam with them in the wild, I know how they move about.

The midas blenny was actually the one that caught my eye when I was surfing around Liveaquaria - thanks for the rec
