do you have a link to the fish trap you are thinking about? when it comes to damsels about the only way to get them out is to take the tank down and get them out that way? they are far to good at hidding in the LR and they are smarter than the normal fish traps.

I've used one and it took a couple times to get them.Damsel will be real tough!I'd try a clear net with food in it and a long handle.

How about taking a 2 liter bottle, clean it and remove label. Then cut off the top part, flip it, and stick it back into the body of the bottle. Then put some food inside the bottle - fish will swim in to get food and then can't swim out. Free fish trap!

I own the type you had linked to. The only fish that ever swim into it are the ones you want to keep.

I bought a piece of plexiglass and move only the rock out of about 12" of one end run the fish down there...slide in the plexiglass so they can't go anywhere and net em...but I 've also used the 2 liter bottle trick - only problem I had with that was having to keep my hand in there which made the fish run
