I have never had one but I have read they get up to a foot in the wild and are pretty aggressive, even reported to attack surfers. That last part may just be urban legend though.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

A foot long damsel in any situation sounds like a horrible idea to me

They are cold water fish and are usually found in the kelp forests. For a damsel, they do get fairly large and are most likely very aggressive. I would not put them with any inverts or small fish. Plus they need a big tank.

I was just reading about them in Scott Micheal's book on sw fish...they get big and extreamly aggressive...you will most likely end up with just one fish in the tank, the garibaldi.

+1, unless you have some other BIG, aggressive fish.
