Foxface trained by the Seals

I just made the decision to "go reef" today, and to that end, I got a magenta star, an anemone with wavy arm thingies (to amuse the resident clownfish) and a foxface...

About two hours later, the foxface is starting to explore, continually finding hding spots along the chaulerpa and live rocks and switching to camouflage mode.

I'm amazed at how well he blends in with the environment, but now he's starting to shift back and forth at will...

Is this normal, or do I have a foxface who likes camouflage make-up? Do I need to outfit him with fatigues????

going camo is normal for rabbit fish. The more comfortable he becomes he shouldn't camo as much

Mine only does it an night unless something happens, like I blow the rocks off with a powerhead. He will get better. Just the fact that he is exploring is a good sign right now. I didn't see mine for the first few days in the q-tank. He just hid in teh pvc

Yay! Looks like the other animals have gotten used to him being around....

The clownfish seems to welcome him and the cleaner shrimp went straight to work on him (or possibly her)...

The coral banded shrimp approached him slowly from behind, claws out and open... I don't know what happened, but I saw him reach forward, and right where I think he would have ended up touching the fish, the shrimp jumped back...

hmmm.... can a foxface sting a coral banded shrimp????

It's the top spines of the rabbit fish that sting - The shrimp may have just been being cautious
