my handy little reference book does not show sexual dichromatics for this species. it does however show more pronounced bands in the pic than what yours looked like new. it may also be a dominance thing. they may not be dichromatic, but a lot of fish like to show off when in groups. since yours in not in a group it may be defaulting to submissive colouring instead of dominant colouring. this last little bit is me calling back to my mbuna days. wrasses are also know for this. they will dull if they do not have anybody to show off to.

if he and the shrimp seem to be eating fine, than i would guess that it is just being dull because it is not showing off. doing that male thing. i am not saying it is a male, but you know what i am saying.
i would not wory to much about it.

Mine is kinda doing the same thing. I've had him for about a week and he is definitely not as bright as he was when I got him. He/she is eating good, is pretty active, and is quite the character.

Welcome to TRT, subijitsu!!!
have either of you tried to put a mirror on the other side of the glass near its den? maybe it will brighten up if it thinks there is another goby in the tank. works for birds.
