Dwarf Keyhole Angel Wedged and Dead
Hey All,
I just got my 30gal BB running and moved my rocks and fish from one tank 15 feet away from the 30 gal. Everything was fine the first day...the Angel was swimming all around, through little openings, and then I didn't see him last night at all. I figured he was hiding. This morning, I looked again and found him wedged under a rock with one of the MJ powerheads blowing right at him.
Any ideas what may have happened? He was good looking, no diseases, plump and healthy. Is it possible that the MJ powerhead hurled him into the rock and wedged him in there?
Mike

i really do not think that the MJ could have done that to a healthy fish. did you move the sand when you moved the tank?

Hey Geoff,
This is the tank that I did your epoxy resin/substrate mix. It turned out great. I don't have loose gravel in the new tank. I'll take pics soon to show everyone.
Just not sure why he died...I saw him the other day, nice fins, no discolorations or problems...then saw him wedged under a rock where the MJ blows.

Could the rock have collapsed on him?

this happened to us with a japanese angel fish...grrr.
Anyway we were stumped too until one day I got zapped!!!! We had a short in a pump and I think stray voltage made the fish stressed beyond coping. Angel fish wedge themselve in rocks and die when highly stressed.
Just our experience. But maybe one you want to check.

I really hope this isn't the case....
I reached in and well, I felt it from head to toe. Good luck to you and I hope you find an easier more painfree cause you can fix.

Well, I think I've found the problem...my blue hippo Tang...killed my lawnmower blenny a month or two ago, then my dward angel (the one that I found wedged)..and just last night...my beautiful sailfin tang...I've very depressed. Never thought it was the hippo...none of the literature I've read mentions any hostility. Well, the hippo was returned to the LFS today. My little Nemo and 6 line wrasse already look happier and the 6 line wrasse is eating much better.
Anyone ever have a blue hippo tang be hostile?

If the blue hippo was in a 30g tank he was bullyin everyone to death. that size tank is too small for any size tang. just my 2 cents
