Diamond Goby jumped to his death!!!!!!

I found my diamond goby dead behind my tank today. I know he was in the tank yesterday. He was such a cool looking fish. Anyone ever have this happen? Any thoughts on why this might have happened?

Yep they can be jumpers. My mandarin jumped and found the only whole he could get thru when he did it. Still not sure how he fit but he did. Sorry for your loss.

Wow!! Sorry to hear that. What a beautiful fish to have it jump. I didn't know they would do that. I am starting to think they all do it at some point.

What would make a good cover to prevent jumping and still have access to the fish?

Reading this thread on jumping fish, I just looked at my tank and it looks like a potential launching pad! I haven't seen anything swimming quickly enough to jump yet, but rather safe than sorry.

egg crate lighting covers are a good option

you can find it at your local HD in the lighting or ceiling tile aisle

which eggcrate?

Would you recommend the white eggcrate, or the spectral kind?

I like the plastic chicken fence. It is really small plastic net-like material. It needs a frame to be built, but it looks very smooth and doesn't block much light at all. I've been lucky so far with only one SW fish in seven years taken the trip, but on my current build I'm definately looking at using it.

I saw it on one of the reefkeeping mag tank of the months six or eight months back.
